Taft: You Need Tougher Science, Math Classes

Ross eighth-grader Chris Rose recently got his braces off, and he smiled broadly Wednesday when hearing about Gov. Bob Taft's plan to raise high school graduation requirements.

Chris' dental experience makes him want to be an orthodontist, he told Taft and more than 300 other Ross students attending the governor's presentation in the Ross High School auditorium.

The 13-year-old said he welcomes the challenge of tougher math, science and language requirements that students throughout Ohio would have to meet to graduate from high school should Taft's proposed education reform act be approved by state lawmakers.
